Welcome to 2016.

Welcome back to my upstairs sewing room, lots of things have changed since I last wrote on my blog.....some are still the same....
Like my love of sewing and everything that goes with it....
Here are two of my latest projects, a rabbit each for my two grand daughters..... they were fun to make with their little dresses and pantaloons.....

The one wearing the darker pink dress was made for Stephanie, she loves 'rabbies'

and the lighter coloured dress was for Violet, I know she too will love 'rabbies' when she is a bit older....

Last year I had a major clean and tidy up in my sewing room, so this year I just need to tweak a few things to get everything in its place, one thing that I am struggling with is how to store my embroidery threads??? Some of them are in sandwich bags in a tub in numerical order, others are on bows in pockets from whatever project I used them for  and then others are in other boxes like perle threads and hand dyed threads, its all a bit higgle de piggle de?? Hoping to get some ideas from you fellow stitchers......

Catch up time.

Time for a catch up....
this little darling arrived on July 2nd, Stephanie Anne, beautiful name for a beautiful little girl....
they named her after her only grandfather, which was very special...

Two weeks before she arrived her Mum and Dad became engaged, much to the surprise and delight of all the family......

of course as Grandmama I am making a little quilt for her.....
it's nearly done.....
I'm always amazed at no matter how often you sew or what level seamstress you are or how long you've been sewing.... you still need one of these.....
all because I want to get this finished and I sewed the row on upside-down ???
so back to finishing this baby quilt.....
I have started a Shepherd's Bush Christmas stocking for her.... no! not for this year ...
It will be ready for her 2nd Christmas... I will have more pics soon....
and as a quilter I have a couple of quilts ready to start for a special little girl.... more pics later..

My beautiful family

Well here I am at last! since my last post I have been in MOB mode (Mother of the Bride) what an amazing experience that was.... going to Melbourne wedding dress shopping, three times, back to Melbourne bridesmaid dress shopping, twice.... actually all those trips happened last year.... but we had to get my dress and a new suit for the FOB... another two trips to Melbourne, in between a few days away on the boat in Feb, a road trip to Adelaide in March, more boating over Easter, then it was time for the big day.... so over we fly to New Zealand, all 25 family and friends for five days for Victoria's wedding...
Beautiful happy bride...
    very happy bride....
very very Happy bride and groom.......
The wedding was in Queenstown, New Zealand, at Jack's Point, which has a beautiful golf club at the foot of the Remarkables mountain range....
We could not have chosen a better place to celebrate Victoria and Karl's wedding, the weather was picture perfect, the wine and food were outstanding and the staff at Jack's Point were fabulous....
the bridesmaids were gorgeous, Vic's girlfriend, Jade on the left and sister Kate .....
how beautiful is my baby girl....
some last minute advice from the celebrant to Karl and his bestman and groomsman, Nick and Nick.....

and two little cuties who did a perfect job on the day... Karl's niece and nephew, Ruby and Jackson.....

the father of the bride was pretty happy as well.....
the mother of the bride was pretty happy too.....

now the next big happening in our family is these two... Daniel (son) and Helen (his partner, no wedding bells yet) are expecting their first baby in July, we are all so excited, this will be our first grandchild, although Helen has two sons from a previous relationship, Jack and Josh who are 9 & 10 who we regard as grandies as well.... so I'm in baby mode now, I will have some progress pics soon......

Welcome to 2013

Welcome to 2013! I've done a bit of redecorating to spark some creative blogging on my little piece of blogland....
been having thoughts of not continuing my blog for a few reasons, mainly the time it takes to keep up with it, when I really want to sew... but after reading lots of different blogs over the past few weeks I have realised that I really do enjoy being a part of the blogging world, reading what everyone is doing sewing, traveling, gardening, cooking and about all your families and those lovely pets you all have so I'm back with lots of enthusiasm....

Here is 2012 FQS mystery BOM block 4....
I really really love the fabrics.....
and here's the next block ready to go....
in fact I am loving it so much I may have to add my name to the 2013 list....

Finished another block on this golden oldie....
more gorgeous fabrics and stitcheries... this one makes me feel happy when I stitch it....:)

The embroidery group that I belong to always have a Christmas challenge ....
to make a Christmas gift starting with a letter of the alphabet, this year it was "A" so I made an "Armchair caddy" to sit on the arm of your chair while you sew, with a pincushion and pockets to hold your threads and bits and pieces
with scissors attached of course so they don't disappear down between the cushions as they like to do....

This year the letter is "E"and believe it or not I have my project all organised and ready to sew.... good start to the new year so far...

Another finish for October....

My other finish for October is this bag.... I bought it as a kit at a craft show in Melbourne a few years ago...
I'm a sucker for bags and yellow is one of my favourite colours....

Don't you love the gorgeous floral fabric and those spotty handles.....

A couple of weeks ago I went into our local Aldi (not somewhere I shop very often) to buy something for Victoria and found this...

isn't this a beautiful orchid.... it is a soft green.. I bought a white one as well
but it didn't come up well in the photo below....

they look fabulous among the other plants I have upstairs....
a before the orchids shot....

Oh dear!

Oh deary! deary! me.... it has been a while.... I have been a bit lost in life and all it's ups and downs, no blogging but I have been trying to do a bit of sewing here and there....
and guess what?... I have finished a few things....
first .... this is my 'Butterfly Kisses' quilt.....
a few years ago (probably longer than that) we went to a friend's wedding in Hervey Bay and I bought a few fat quarters in the Butterfly Kisses range.....

they sat in my cupboard for quite a while until I decided what to do with them,
when I saw Leanne Beasley's 'Don't Forget the Chocolate' quilt in her 'Romancing the Roadtrip' book I knew it was a perfect design.....
it showed the pretty fabrics off beautifully........

my quilter  it kept the floral theme going....

my next finish was my 'Gardener's Journal'.......
it's nice to have it finished and on the bed.....

I'm quite pleased with the quilting.... a little bit of paisley like the border....

I love the fabrics I used in this.....
I have another finish to show you next time....

It's about time....

It's about time I did some posting, as usual I have nothing finished.... but I have been working on a few projects..... a couple of weeks ago I received block 1 of the Designer Mystery BOM from the FQ shop...... along with the backing and finishing kits....

I have finished the first block and the second one hasn't arrived yet..... yeah!
this is a first for me.... aren't the fabrics gorgeous?...
Also I have been cutting and organising my Vignette Mystery quilt....
don't you love all those pesky little triangles for the shoo-fly blocks... grrr.... and the bags for the pieces for the rest of the blocks, that's a great idea cutting ahead so everything is ready to go...

The colours are so bright and fresh .....
and the cosmo thread is beautiful to use.....
until you get to the last two stitches in the last pink flower of that section
and you run out of thread in your needle.... humpf... time for bed!!....
