It's about time....

It's about time I did some posting, as usual I have nothing finished.... but I have been working on a few projects..... a couple of weeks ago I received block 1 of the Designer Mystery BOM from the FQ shop...... along with the backing and finishing kits....

I have finished the first block and the second one hasn't arrived yet..... yeah!
this is a first for me.... aren't the fabrics gorgeous?...
Also I have been cutting and organising my Vignette Mystery quilt....
don't you love all those pesky little triangles for the shoo-fly blocks... grrr.... and the bags for the pieces for the rest of the blocks, that's a great idea cutting ahead so everything is ready to go...

The colours are so bright and fresh .....
and the cosmo thread is beautiful to use.....
until you get to the last two stitches in the last pink flower of that section
and you run out of thread in your needle.... humpf... time for bed!!....

Two down....

At last I have started my Dear Jane journey,
Two down..... only 167 blocks to go..... what am I thinking....
it may end up just a table runner or maybe a wall hanging or maybe a quilt... have to see how long my enthusiasm lasts....lol....
And should have this binding done next week....

Lost mojo!

Okay it's been a while since my last post.... seem to have lost my blogging mojo!... not sure where it went... but it is coming back slowly....
Here's a quick rundown on what I did in March, Kate went to Thailand for a holiday and we minded her darling little Perri....

she is so sweet, very playful and entertaining and she wanted to be with you most of the time,  even on my sewing bench.....
quite different to our Pheobe who coudn't get far enough away from Perri...

something to do with the generation gap I think...lol.....
Kate bought me these cute little bowls back from Thailand, they look good next to my birdie chopping board.....

So no sewing finishes to speak of but...... I took my Mum and sister on a little holiday, just a few days away, less than an hour from home and we did all those lovely things you do when you get away....  ate delicious food ( out of course!), did a little bit of shopping,
I couldn't resist this sweet little jug... and Mum bought the pate knife as a souvenir & thank-you gift for me... it will be put to good use on the boat...
We caught up with a dear friend Mum & I have known for a long time over coffee, shared glasses of bubbly, watched movies, read, stitched and cut and stitched some more and chatted about everything... it was relaxing and we all enjoyed ourselves. Sandra went home with a quilt top together... she was very excited.... Mum worked on her current cross-stitch & applique and I finally finished some very dark & tricky back stitch on my Birch Point cross-stitch,
I worked on a couple of other projects as well but no pics....
Mum and Sandra are already planning what they want take for next year...  :)

Feb finish...

A finish for February.... yeah!

On Monday I thought I better try and finish something for February and wa la!!! one Overnight bag pattern designed by Melly and Me, bought as a kit two years ago at the Melb quilt convention from the lovely ladies at the Blueberries stand... it will be handy for travelling....

it even has feet to stand on....
so the bottom won't get dirty.....
and here is a sneak peek at another finish but it still secret.....

so that's two finishes for this month... now I have something to tick off my list.....

Back home again.

we had a lovely few days out on the boat nice and relaxing, I got a bit of sewing done and DH caught some good fish....
can't believe I'm stitching with one strand of silk thread.... so different to DMC......

now we have some work in the garden to do......
as you can see the roses and the lawns need some attention....

and the orchard....

and I need to finish something for Feb.... hmm better go and make a cuppa and think about that.....

Happy holidays....

This weekend has been a really fun one ...... we started our annual holidays last Friday... well my DH did...  you don't get annual leave when you're housewife..... lol.... we always try and have a long weekend or at least a day or two in Feb because it is our wedding anniversary on the 18th and this year he hopes to take two weeks..... so we have headed out in our boat ....

Saturday we went to the local farmers market and bought some sour dough bread.... homemade of course and some home grown vegies and fruit, if we were going home that day we would have had three new chooks but you can't take chooks on a boat now can you...... can't see why not ....lol....

Then we cruised over to Metung and had a long slow lunch at the pub, sorry no pics but it was delish, the food always tastes better when your sitting on a verandah looking out over the water.... so spoilt....
After lunch we travelled around to our favourite spot....

the Barrier Landing and lazed around the rest of the day fishing and sewing..... we all know who was doing what.....
I was sewing of course......and before anyone asks we celebrated 34 years.... and yes they have been 34 great years, I wouldn't change any of them.....

Some lovely gifts....

Some Christmas gift pictures at last......

my dear friend Melissa (no blog) gave me this gorgeous Sue Spargo kit...
the fabric and trims are so colourful and rich...

can't wait to start this one........

My friend Sharon (no blog) gave me this beautiful cross-stitch sampler ....... which she suggested I start on January 1st..... as if I had nothing else to sew...lol...

complete with fabric and threads and a needle - all ready to go......
the linen is a lovely rich dark green and the threads are silk.....

of course I had to start it on the first day of 2012....
the thread was so lovely to use, I can see myself actually finishing this one ......
Sharon has the idea that I should have it done by 2013.... we'll see.....

I have also been stitching this little cutie over the past month.....
another gift from Sharon and (another no blogger) Helen back in 2005...

It looks really sweet with those special little ceramic buttons on it, I am planning on getting it framed.

It is a great feeling ticking another project off my ufo list!!

Have dusted off my Christmas tin so I can cart around my next project...
a Christmas project of course....
finally getting to stitch my "Tis the season" stitchery....

Way way behind the girls in the stitch-a-long group, most of them finished theirs last year as we were meant to, I figure better late than never......
